Please welcome back: Rae & Christian. It’s not that they´ve been away for long - this summer was the last time Manchester´s clever production duo performed a live gig. But after touring the globe with a full band, showcasing material from their highly acclaimed debut album, "Northern Sulphuric Soul," they were anxious to get back in the studio and work on a second album. Meanwhile you may have heard one of their recent remixes, for Faze Action, Lamb, Moby or Eagle Eye Cherry, but while lending their talent to other projects this past year, Mark Rae and Steve Christian have been relentlessly working on their new album, "Sleepwalking."
The ‘Rae & Christian’ sound has evidently progressed. Their sound has become much tighter, due in part to their consecutive live gigs, indicating a move towards progressive instrumentation and fluid melodies. This element gave their musical partnership its final component. Nevertheless, their individual talents, Mark Rae as DJ, beat merchant and lyricist and Steve Christian as music maker and production wizard, have become more versatile. Their magic ability to combine hip hop ethics with traditional songwriting skills and 21st century production technology has become more refined. If "Northern Sulphuric Soul" was Rae & Christian’s M.A., then "Sleepwalking" is their PhD.
