Music that comes from the heart will eventually speak to the heart, no matter the shade or sex of the artist who delivers it.

Kina knows this and on her deeply evocative, self-titled debut, Kina expresses this. She expresses what’s in her heart, what’s in her soul, what’s in her life and what’s on her mind. That she does this within a rock-pop context is perhaps a curiosity to folks who cling to clichés and stereotypes. That she does it with a passion that cannot be limited should be enough – and is. "With this album, I’ve been totally honest. I’ve told my truth both in a lyrical and a musical sense," she declares.

Bold and bodacious, Kina announces her arrival with fortitude, grit and undeniable skill.

The first radio track, "Girl From The Gutter," is laced with acoustic guitar, a melodic chorus and a driving intensity, with the message that the underdog can have its day. "‘Girl From The Gutter’ is about me being mad as hell," Kina laughs. "And about feeling disrespected and counted out. When I wrote that song, I was definitely coming from the point of ‘I’m gonna show you all,’ and I was definitely angry." Angry perhaps, but...
